68-69 Forced Air Induction 442 W-30
Just a small up grade that is cheap ($7.00) to make a #8 304 stainless steel screen to fit at the top of the scoops of any 68 or 69 Forced Air Induction on W-30 442 or any one who as installed a system. It prevents birds and debris from getting inside the filter housing.

The guy that I bought them from sell (2) pieces of square 5"X5" of it for $7.00 including shipping. You will need to cut and shape it. I am going to make (2) for the very front of the forced air induction (it wont be an original look but it will look great and be functional) so if you want mine once I get the other two make I will sell them to you cheap.

I honestly didn't (I used my hands and a pair of good pliers) but I will when I make the (2) 14"X2" that will go in front of the scoops which will be attractive and functional. All the new cars have screens on them (flimsy) and there is good reason for it....progress.

When I bought the car about 5 years ago it had a generic cheap s@#%&* looking non original air filter so I decided to go with a factory W-30 set up and I bought the scoops from www.thegoodoldsdays.com but even if the reproduction of the scoops was superb they were miss-casted with waves in them. Since I couldn't find the original trim I came up with this idea which I like even better. I am sacrificing originality for functionality and great looks (304 stainless steel) and best of all the waves are gone. I will take that trade anytime.

I used a 2 X 4 to bend the mesh a soft hammer and my hands. The mesh sticks out just the right amount. I finished late last night, drove the car this morning and there is no performance changes from less air moving thru the mesh. I advise anybody that wants to do it to either use original scoops or the ones that Mikes442 sells as they are of superior quality than the made in China.

i dont hate it..but i like the trim around it better...but then again it isnt my car and if you like it, thats all that counts...i make my cars like i want them and thats what everyone should do...
really brings your eye too it...thats for sure

I looked for the last 6 years for a trim that would look original, even bought the cheap Chinese one sold by "Car Parts" only to return it because it just didn't cut it so it was either no trim or this and I wish I could have even made a trim to resemble the original but could not so this is more than a happy medium with functionality on top of it.

This is what happens when music and automobiles get together. The studs are still attached so that the emblems can still be used. Left over 2 X 4 and plexi glass. They are all fun projects.
