Awesome AZ junk yard
While in Scottsdale we hit the local junk yards. Just on the north side of Pheonix the is a place called Desert Valley auto parts. 1-800-905-8024. It is by far the best yard in the city. There was at least a dozen 68-72 Cutlasses with lots of parts including a console and a posi rear end still in the car. Rust free sheet metal, chrome, you name it. Probably a dozen 66-70 toronados, 64-73 Riveras, 64-67 Cutlasses, 73-77 Cutlasses 98's 88's, There are rows and rows of fenders, doors and hoods for any kind of car immaginable. I paid $50 for a gas tank that still looked new and $45 for an outside heater box and all kinds ok nuts and bolts, and a couple brackets.
The other local yards south of town seemed very high and wasn't worth the ride.
I hope this can help someone.

Thanks for the tip....I've always wanted to go there but haven't been out West in forever. They also usually have a pretty good selection of dry project cars in addition to all the parts...here is a link to their website http://www.dvap.com/ for anybody interested in seeing what they've got.

Wish I knew you were going!
DVAP rules! Man - if I knew you were going and could spare the room, I woulda given you a shopping list! Cool that you found what you needed. There's not many places like that left.

Was just there a few days ago. Their prices are somewhat high, but if you need something, chances are they have it. It's pretty incredible walking around that place. I just kept looking at cars saying, "I'd like to save that one...that one too...that one would be good as well....."

They have good stuff, they keep it, but they KNOW it.
Do not fool yourselves. They list on 442.com, and hemmings almost exclusively.
You will pay for that.
Had a BAD rap a few years ago due to some of the jerks they had working there. Have not dealt with them since.
There are more wrecking yards between here and Tuscon that are said to be better. Saw 1 about 20 years ago in Casa Grande that was even better than this place, they had Brahma (sp?) Bulls IN the yard.. Need to see if it is still there.
Need to see them, and if I find any good ones, will let you guys know.

Alot of them are gone
We stopped in Kansas and talked to a junkyard owner and they said when the steel prices were high most of the smaller places crushed all their cars. We saw an empty junkyard that proved them right. I think the days of getting a great deal at a junkyard are long gone. Local craigslists are the best option for getting a deal.
