"XE" Wheels

"XE" Wheels
Digging through the "stash" today and came across this set of "XE" wheels.
Can't even remember where I got 'em, forgot I had 'em.
14x6 "JJ" with disc brake profile rims.
I'm not very knowledgeable on decoding wheel info and date codes in general.
Can anyone tell me on what these were originally used and how to decipher the info on the wheels?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Ed,
Here's a start. It appears to me that this wheel is dated May 2 (the 5 to the left of the valve stem and the 2 to the right), 1970 (the 0 under the M2 stamped in the center part of the wheel). I agree with your disc brake wheel assessment. Now, if someone with the 1970 books could tell us if the XE code appears in manual section 10 of their assembly manual, that would lock it in.

Randy and Steven, Thanks for the good info.
Randy, the "M2" you referred to with the zero below, is actually "K2" if it makes any difference.
Is the date code arrangement you describe typical on GM wheels,
month on the left of the stem, date on the right and the year on the hub under the "K2"?
Steven, I didn't see the 38928297 part number in my parts books.
The only "14x6 JJ" wheel it shows is described as
"71-72 F85 H.D. except S.W. or V.C.", part #409879.
Although my books go way back, for some parts into the '50's through '72,
I've had problems finding what I consider common stuff in them.
I'm sure these wheels were available in '70 as you indicated.
I know the 14x7 JJ's were.
Thanks again for the help.
