In my opinion, it does not matter. I would not run a engine at 240 for very long.
The other question, are you going with mechanical or electrical? I do prefer mechanical.

Yeah.. I prefer mechanical also and I'm leaning towards the 120-240 so if I see the needle all the way up I might still have time to pull over and not do any damage as if I catch it all the way up at 280 it might be too late.. Damage done

For my cars, if the needle hits 220 it's shutoff time. I don't know who would need a 280 degree temp gauge...go for the 120-240.

If you have 2 ports to access the cooling system, use one for the guage and one for the idiot light.

Yeah I'm planning on doing that it will be nice to have the dummy light give me a heads up if it starts getting too hot.. Quick question.. For the oil pressure gauge do you know if there is two ports? I don't want to disconnect that dummy light either.. Or do you think I can some how add a "T" fitting and tee off it??

Put a T in there. That's what I did. Came in handy on my old worn out 350. Sometimes at an idle while hot the idiot light would come on.

Exactly! Get a 1/8" NPT X 1" (if you can find it) or 2" brass pipe, and a 1/8" NPT "T" fitting.

Put the pipe where the sender goes into the block, then screw on the "T" so the short side is perpendicular to the pipe. Put the gauge in the side of the "T" and the sender in the top side. Works like a charm

Okay cool so I will "T" off of it.. Ok now for the third Gauges I'm going with the vacuum gauge instead of the voltage.. Does anyone know the best place to hook that one up too..

Ah64pilot I got this one on ebay but I think the guy who makes them is a member of CO also and he makes a lot of different styles and sizes you should try to look him up and see his stuff pretty good I can't remember. His name try searching similar trends and see if something comes up ill try to look in a bit .. I'm on my way to the store to get those fittings you game me some good advice on the oil pressure.. Question should I get the vacuum for my vacuum gauge from the intake or the bottom of my card..???

I'd think either place would work as long as it's manifold vacuum. I'll assume you meant Carb.

I would get it from the intake manifold because it probably has a 1/8" NPT fitting that goes to the gauge doesn't it? If you go to the carb you'll have to find the manifold vacuum port and even then it won't be a threaded fitting it'll just be a pushed on hose.

Pilot heres the housing seller

https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...-housings.html

UN = w70442 AN = randy

Al

you can get the vacuum from the carb or manifold, if you use the carb just be sure its manifold vac not ported....if its ported vac you will only get a reading off idle

On the oil pressure gauge,I would not use the plastic tubing that comes with it. Autometer sells an upgrade kit that contains copper tubing instead of the plastic.

If that plastic tubing melts or breaks you will not be happy with oil all over your engine compartment, interior or under your dash.

Thanks w30-dreaming I was just looking and reading on that.. It's like you where reading my mind.. I'm going out on a hunt to the local auto parts store and see if I can find some..Because you are right that plastic one don't look like it's going to handle the jod especially with it going across that hot engine

I learned the hard way. Got oil all over my feet while I was out of town and had to drive from store to store to find someone with a plug. Good news is the floor did not rust

Thanks for the complement on the Gauges.. Glad to hear you sold the vert all complete. I hope the new owner brings it back to life.. Mine was a theft recovery and when I bought it my wife went crazy she did not see the potential I told her I could not see a 1972 cutlass supreme convertible go to waste she said I would never bring it back to life.. Now she admits its a very beautiful car and she loves driving it.. Only when I let her..

Looks good! Almost like it was put there from the factory Now you gotta get some new wood grain for the dash because your gauge pod is making the factory grain look bad lol!

Glad to hear it's a lighting / camera thing...those wood grain stickers are pricey! I still haven't gotten one for my dash. My original was coming off so I took it all the way off to paint the dash.

LMAO! I should try that

BTW, your car is super clean! I love the color! Very nice! I don't have to tell you not to get grease on your seats, oh brother I hate white interior for that! It looks good when it's clean but geez it sucks when it gets dirty.
