No I don't want it to be like that @ all. My intent is to have a place for the BS and if nobody wants to see it,don't go there. That's where tinfoil Ted can hang and nobody will have to see it. I would very much like for you to join because you're very knowledgeable and would be a great asset. I'm going to stay on top of it and if any BS gets into the other forums,it's gone.

I'm sure I would join and see how it goes.

I stepped away from ROP almost 1 1/2 years ago. Couldn't stand some of the meat heads like Andy Miller, tedm, toyforce and a few others. I would check it out multiple times throughout the day, but never logged in. Came close a few times but held back.

I'm not competeting with ROP or CO,just the opposite, just another Olds site. The site already has a domain name and the site is built,it just doesn't have a server yet. It looks like ROP but uses the newer upgraded phpbb software and uses better registration protocol to help keep those bastard bots out. I want it to be registration/user friendly and everybody will be welcome. There is a reason for this site but I don't want to go into it @ this time. As soon as a server can be acquired,I will put it up. It will have an added feature that ROP/CO doesn't,there will be a forum for anything goes, politics, religion, dirty jokes, pretty women etc. The reason for that forum is,I don't want anybody complaining about having to read something they don't agree with. If you go in that forum,no reason to complain, you were warned. You can warn against no politics, no this or that but it always seems to find it's way into threads. If anything political etc. is posted in another forum,it's gone, deleted. I want everybody to enjoy it and have fun but when a liability issue comes up,it's also gone, deleted. I am doing this on my dime and I want to keep it that way. The phpbb software has the ability to let me or the moderators warn or ban members and I hope it doesn't come to that. I'm doing it the most economical way that I can in the beginning using the free phpbb software and economical server space that says it's unlimited but as with some servers ROP used, when it starts using a lot of bandwidth,it starts getting slooooow. To make sure you have enough server space, using a VPS(virtual private server) is the best way to go but is expensive. If the phpbb software doesn't do it's job,I may have to use the vbulletin software that CO uses and it's expensive for a free site. I know that ROP is being upgraded and will be back and I'm not doing this as a stop gap measure either because when ROP comes back,it shouldn't have the same problems it does now. It may work and it may not but I'm going to give it a try. Again,I'm not doing this out of spite or any reason other than giving the Olds community another alternative.

Yeah I know it's crowded out there and when ROP comes back,it will be tough to draw a crowd. There's a method to my madness tho and I will survive.

Haha, tedm made me smile. I think he invented tin foil hats. Ok, maybe co-invented.

No kidding... The beef between these 2 is stupid.

ROP was more performance/racing/drivetrain oriented with little (or no!) moderation...
CO is more restoration/historical oriented with moderation...

What's the problem ?!?!

X2, this site is a balance of restoration and basic street performance, as always there are some exceptions to the rule.

Are you going to have the highly annoying banner and pop-up ads. I realize it generates revenue to keep a site running, but they SURE ARE ANNOYING.

Being one of those who has tried to join the ROP site to no avail and having had no response to my inquiries, I've reached the point where I could care less if that site works or not.

As I am sure do many others, I belong to various forums that address different topics. ROP is the only site that has ever been completely non-responsive.

It's hard for me to give a rat's patootie about whether or not that site is working...

Not that I can recall I have heard of them moving out west, where it is a drier climate and less humidity for health reasons only to return to home shortly thereafter.

This us vs them attitude is rediculous. There was a lot of great people and info on that site. I would like to see most of them over here as long as rules are followed.

All this crying over spilt milk is childish. As stated before I am a member of both forums and each has it's values and quirks. That said I see no point in a thread that compares the two, much less flaming those that belong to another site. Each site has it's fair share of trolls that do nothing but downgrade each site and or it's members. However 9 times out of 10, it is merely a case of mistaken points conveyed via the internet where you cannot see the body language or facial expression of the mistaken posts. As mentioned several times before anyone is welcome here and I for one would love to see more racing tech, bench racing and my favorite which is old pictures of Oldsmobile race cars. Just my $.02 of course

I sure hope not,I'm paying the tab and I don't think I agreed to any ads.I am very new @ running a site and I'm having a guy help who has run a site before,so just bear with us and we'll do the best we can.

I've been a member of both sites and do like them both. What I don't like is that I have owned a 70 - 72 Cutlass/442 for the past 34 years and I am still learning. Sometimes (even here but especially on ROP) you would start reading a thread and think you are learning something only to have to stop because of all the BS trash talking, sarcasm etc. Its tough to learn when you don't know if the people in the thread are joking, disagreeing just to be an @$$ or what. And the guys who seem to be the biggest jerks seem to be fine to me especially through PMs but I see how they got on people nerves.

I find keyboard muscles are even bigger than beer muscles!

Sorry if I somehow offended you... not my intention.

It's a sad day in Oldsmobile land.

I think this thread had divided the 2 boards even more than they were before ROP's crash.

I'm going to continue to try and enjoy my dual citizenship.

For many years I read the ROP but never posted much.

The ROP crash reminded me what a nice place this is; a bit more laid back and more my style.
