What Color Should I Paint it?

I will have to make a decision in the next month or so as to what color to paint my car. It was originally Bamboo with a brown vinyl top. The vinyl top is gone and bamboo is not one of my three choices. I was dead set on gold with black stripes but now I am second guessing myself. My interior is gold and it will be rocking a W-25 hood. Not sure about the spoiler. I know its ultimately my decision but which of these three color combinations would you go with if it were up to you?
If you have a car painted one these colors please share some pictures.

Thanks
Rick

Im w koda except no white at all

I do love the gold (nugget, willow, baroque)to me it really captures the color of that era.

but Im sucker for the black cars too nothing looks nicer for the first 10 minutes after a thorough detailing....after the 10 minutes is up all you see is the dirt, bugs, defects etc....

I love these cars in Nugget Gold. And as long as it's a coupe(and not a convertible) the wing would be awesome.

I would go black first and then white. Those are just my choices. It is really a matter of personal preference. Eliminate one and then another. Then flip a coin.

Picture 3 is Nugget gold. Galleon gold is the lightest of the three 1970 golds. Might want to check out #63 Copper as well.

IMO I love #1 as a combo nothing better for eye appeal when cleaned, but hard to maintain. White has never tripped my trigger at all, except the 69 H/O!

I guess that door #3 would be my choice with no option of change out the interior. It has pop and would not show the spider webbing.

Please no more reds, been done to death on the olds A bodies!

Yet another possibility burgundy mist with gold stripes and gold color SSII's

I like the combination of the car in the third picture. When I got ready to paint my car I was all over the place as to which color scheme I wanted to use. I could not decide so when I went to the paint store the owner there made a suggestion to paint it back the original color which I did. That color is Bamboo
The 68 I am restoring is going to be Saturn Gold Poly.

Since the original combo is out, I'll go with Nugget Gold and black stripes -- give it a real 70s vibe.

Matching numbers car - go original, because it adds value.

Non matching numbers - do want you want.

I vote for Nugget Gold.

They are all beautiful colours, but the white and black with gold interior I think are the best combinations. I would give the edge to white though. If you are taking into account the technical side of it though, the metallic of the gold's will require a great painter. As others have said about black, and I have/had a few, its tough to keep looking new. Depending on how meticulous you are, a lot of hours can be spent on wet sanding black. White however is the most forgiving.

Here's a couple pics of the interior color. 69442murph did my upholstery and scott 442 refurbished some seat belts that I purchased from him. I'm so pleased with both these guys work.

Black is probably # 4 on the list for me but wanted to keep it as an option. I never even thought about white until I seen a photo spread featuring the white and gold combination. It's growing on me big time

I really would like to see one in person before I make a decision

If it had a black or white interior I could see doing the blue. I'm not a red car guy unless it's a Ferrari.

White is starting to look really good.

Thanks to all for the feedback. Once again, post pics if you have them. If anyone lives near Cincinnati I would love to come see your car.

This is going to be a tough choice. The bride likes the white with gold stripes. That might be the deciding factor.

lol...it really is a beautiful combo in person...with the gold interior...man its a show stopper...just get the right mix on the white...too white is too white...theres other toners in there...its more like classic white...just dont get refrig white..its too much

i think about that w30 post car nearly every day..and kick myself for not getting it.... i had the money..it had no documentation..but i am sure it was real..i dream about that car occasionally..even 35 years later...i cant even remember why i didnt get it..maybe it was transportation..it had the frame out of it and a lot of work done..just dont know why now...it was still in orig paint and on a body buck.....It was way back, when MC Donnell Douglass out of STL layed people off..the toys came up for sale quick...and thats how i found it...

and i owned a black 71 W30 hardtop auto with white stripes..neat..but meh...

Agreed on the shade of white. Definitely not too white. I wonder what a pearl finish would look like.

No to white.

Had a black with gold stripe 1970 many years ago....only looked best after dark. too much dusting to keep it clean.

My vote is gold with black stripes

the caddy pearl prob good..its milky white and doesnt flip much..the import..too weird...flips hard...and turns weird green red or blue...not good with gold accents..

now old pearl..the pink and blue flipping stuff would be cool...its a tri coat...your white, the pearl and then clear...i had a 73 442 with white..pink pearl and gold H/O stripes...and it was a real good looking combo...and people loved that car...as much as people could love 73s...at dusk it was freakin awesome...but..

sometimes less is more...stock is hard to beat on a 70...

if ever you want to sell it...theres already a bunch of earth tone cars out there....and although i like some..i have 2 gold cars..and dude..no one likes them..my GT37 is Baja and i believe is close to Nugget..maybe nugget is a little darker....earth tone cars where very popular during 70s production..but if it aint stock..and youre building it your way...id shy away...besides..everything is for sale..make it easy to sell

Pearl never. My names not 'Huggy Bear', I dont work for 'Mary Kay' and I dont have a disco ball in my house. Nor do I listen to rap-crap.

Paint that shifts color with the direction of the sun reminds me of an oil stain.

Earth tones come in and out of style all the time, but never go 'out' of style.

Guess I'm old sc(h)cool, but I do remember a time when all I liked in car colors was flashy reds and blues. That gets old real fast at car events.

My 2cents. word up

I'm going to assume you prefer to use a 1970 color. Let's look at the choices you have:

I'm also attaching a stripe recommendation chart. I've seen several versions of the recommendations, with certain combos being recommended or not depending on the revision - I can only assume they started with one set of recommendations and fine-tuned it over the model year as all companies do.

Since you have a gold interior, it makes sense to choose a color that takes a black, white, or gold stripe. Me? I think a gold stripe would be neat, and I think there are some colors that work nicely with gold that may or may not be on the chart - for example, how about Rally Red with gold stripes? Aegean Aqua and gold?

Or, to be really different, paint it one of the Toronado colors, like Ming Jade, and slap on some gold stripes and be different than all the other 4-4-2s out there.
