Vintage sign sighting: Riddle Olds, Martinsville, VA
My wife and I took a long weekend road trip to Virginia a couple weeks ago. We ate dinner at a restaurant called Zinc Bistro in Charlottesville and I spotted this fantastic sign hanging in one room:
After I finished drooling, I talked with the owner and left my info just in case he ever wanted to sell it. What a great piece of Olds history with a nice design (plus Martinsville is my favorite track).
Fingers crossed! ; )

Riddle was a good dealer- much better than the one we had in Danville. After Olds went bye-bye they soldiered on for a while as a Cadillac and Honda dealer, then GM yanked their Caddy franchise and gave it to the Chevy dealer in Danville. By then the Riddle family were tired of fooling with GM. When Nelson Automotive Group offered to buy out the Honda franchise, they took it.
The ones I wanted were on F.E. Watkins Motor Company in South Hill VA. That dealership still had WORKING 50s-era neon signage that they had maintained all those years. When the Sadlers bought them out, the neon signs disappeared and I haven't found anyone who knows what became of them.
