Well I dont have a 70 paint chart handy but there was a raspberry/pinkish color for the Toro only in 1970 however the paint that is on this car does not look like it. It appears to be more chocolate color....

paint code 76 was "Regency Rose Metallic" Toronado/Riviera "Sunset Sage Metallic" ONLY - the paint chip look to have more "pink" in it VS. the pics on eBay (could be the lighting??)

Of course color dictates value. Desireable colors bring more and undesirable colors bring less. How is it determined that this is a one of one car? Also, I thought special order colors were represented with a dash at the color code line of the cowl tag. Am I mistaken about this?

When it comes to Olds data plates, I think they did things differently than other brands in GM. Just like the extra-cost colors often had dashes, I know I have seen a special-order car or two with the proper paint code. Prob if it had a non-RPO color outside 1970 GM, it would have gotten the dashes for sure.

If the cowl tag shows two dashes for the PNT code, the only way this car can be proven to have that color would be to also have the build sheet. Since it's a Freemont car, it might be on there. I have also seen cars with extra cost paint with the color palet code listed correctly. This will be interesting to see how it plays out.
I also would like to know how to prove 'one of one'. No records exist that I'm aware of that document the number of special order cars produced by Oldsmobile.
Whoever did the respray did a nice job, but sad to see the manufacturing decal and tire pressure decal on the drivers door are missing. Also, where's the washer fluid reservoir gone, and where is the wheel opening trim? Those were standard on 1970 442's IIRC.

The bigger problem is that once again, here's a high dollar, fully loaded car with alleged rare paint, that has been subjected to a complete restoration and repaint! How many of these options were added when the car was apart? Is this color even the original color of the car? Inquiring minds want to know.

Good catch Steven. For some reason not all the images on the ebay listing would load when I looked at the ad the first time. The color palette and data plate were 2 of them. I think that establishes this cars paint fairly well. Obviously it had to be special ordered to get that.
It looks like this car was built in Freemont. Also a very low body number that would tend to support that so the build sheet may be still with it somewhere? The seller makes no mention of other documents (POP, build sheet, broadcast cards, original BOS etc) that would add to this cars provenance. I noted the fuel tank is painted black, which leads me to question whether this was a body on or body off restoration. The build sheet could still be on top of the tank....just thinking out loud here.

For the life of me I couldn't figure out what the "cowl hood" was till now.
The W-25 wasn't everywhere back when new, showing up in 12.8% of production through June 1970. That doesn't include 3100 W-30s built, so total production would likely be under 6,000 4-4-2s for 1970.

'71 turn signal lever, 10 bolt rear end, incorrect oil filler cap, funky brake booster, '72 AC hose with muffler. Not to be a nit picking jerk, but the description does say museum quality.
Koda & Steven,
The Oldsmobile emblem on the left front of the hood is correct for the '70-'72 442s without OAI. Also maybe the '69s?

Not correct for 1969 442 but correct for 1969 Cutlass.

Looks like Regency Rose to me, or really looks more like 1971 Briar. The colors were similar but different codes.
That pinkish rose was called Flamingo Silver. Again, Toronado-only.
Odd color for a 442 but I like it. I get tired of seeing them in the same old resale colors.

I owned a 1971 Briar car. It is more brown.
