Selling a 455 (not completed) worth trying?

Not sure where I would start price wise.
Its short block is complete and was put together by DG machine in Auburn.
Has forged 2278P pistons .030, ARP main studs, JM 20-22 cam
ARP rod bolts
C heads with oversized intakes and mild port job.

Overall a mild street build. My guess is its not worth selling and I should wait till I find that 68 Cutlass hardtop I crave.

So........ Is there a market for an engine like this?

I would think you could get 1,000 for it. Maybe a little more. It's hard to sell an engine that was just completed but never ran. The next guy is gonna want to tear it all apart and check the clearances to know if it was built right (or he should).

If he does that before buying then you can ask a higher price if it's all good, but then you run the risk of him finding a mistake and foregoing the whole thing. He can buy it first and then check it, but you are probably not going to get top dollar for it. Just my $.02

Maybe Mark or someone else will chime in.

I agree, I'd be leary of buying an untested engine. Can't blame anybody for that thought.

Crossed my mind! Actually my wife owns the wagon. After I told her I was selling the Cutlass she said I could turn the Volvo into a race car.
Its super light. A mild 455 might tear it up.

Hey wait a BBO is not that much bigger than a SBC and thats been done.
Hmmmm?

Nahhhh.

Hmmmm? Too pro street? Eighties?

I'd be interested, but I'm too far away. With freight it probably wouldn't be cost effective.

If he is willing to ship it freight is not that bad. I have shipped a lot of motors over the years $250 +/- range.

Sorry to revive an old thread.
I thought I updated?
I sold the 455 to Josh Barnett (MMA world champion)
The night he and a friend showed up it was really dark. I recall meeting him, not knowing who he was,
thinking to myself " I am glad this guy is smiling"
He seems like a really nice guy.
I have tried a couple times to Google an update on his Cutlass. Nothing. Anyone have info on his Cutlass?
Love to see more on my old 455.
