rocker arm head question

replacing valve stem seals I ran in to some worn push rods and rocker arms
the sealed power replacements would not fit because the bridge would not go ever the stud. all the ones I found use a bolt that holds them down to the head not a stud.
went to a local engine rebuilder that has been around for over 20 years and he said he has never seen anything like it.
so is this stock?
I know you can have the studs put in but the way they are installed it does not look like it was done after market
car is a 1966 olds 98 with 7.0 386525A engine code
thanks
augie

Those rockers are 1965 setup. You must have a 65 engine in that car with A letter heads. I am not familiar with what parts are available for that setup.

Yeah. I've never actually seen one of those.

I guess it all depends on what size those studs are - you may just be able to replace them with bolts of the appropriate size and put it together with a new set of rockers and pedestals.

The A-heads are one-year-only from the 1965 400 and 425 motors, so if you have them in a 1966 car, they are not original. In any case, the A heads use 3/8" studs. All 1966-1990 Olds V8s use 5/16" bolts to retain the rockers and bridges. You must get the correct 1965 parts.

also can you guys post some pics or tell me what i need
The car has a oil filler breather with the holes and mesh in it.
is it supposed to have a push on cap with no holes?
The valve cover on the driver side has no holes but the passenger side one has a hole with a what is described as a PCV valve as it has a small vacuum line on it but it looks like it was gutted because of some pics on the for sale ones on ebay.
From this PCV valve it has a tube that goes to the air cleaner is this the right set up or is this for the 65 model i have looked every where for pics with no luck
The passenger side valve cover had a pound of slush in it
so im just trying to make sure its vented properly
thanks
