Rear bumper rubber bump strip
Hi guys. Does anyone know if the rubber bump strip that runs practically the whole lenght on the rear bumper bar on a 69, 442 was an option you could order or was it a standard inclusion? I know it was an option on the cutlass. Thanks for any info you can give. Cheers

It's option code "VE1" It's listed as a factory installed separate option. It doesn't seem to have been available in any kind of option "group" like the lamp pkg that included the under hood, trunk & courtesy lamps. I've seen a couple of really loaded '69 442s over the years that didn't have it. You could even order it on the cheapo F85. It's amazing that for a fairly rare one year option, both the strip & the special bumper are being reproduced.

The "special" bumper is simply a stock bumper with the mounting holes punced in it. Not a big tooling cost if the bumper itself is already being repro'd. Personally I never cared for the rub strip or the bumper guards of other years. I guess this stuff is being repro'd because every frame-off resto needs to be loaded with every possible option in the book...

Thanks for the info. Was every option in a particular year (69) available on all models (cutlass, 442, etc), or were there some options you could only get on one model (bump strip). I heard somewhere that this option was not available on 442s.
