Unhappy Original Parts Group Opinion

A friend of mine just had a pretty disappointing first experience with them. It bothers me a bit 'cause I told him that I've never had a problem with them and he ordered from my catalog. He ordered a Flowmaster exhaust kit through them last Monday, $619 + $66.90 shipping + 9.25% tax (we're in Ca), total over $700. Told him 2-3 days and in stock. Called Thursday, now we're up to 5-10 days. Called today, backordered to Oct 11th now. So I step in. Had him cancel the order. Called Summit. $615 + $11.95 to ship, in stock and will go out tomorrow.

So the biggest question I have is did he get a prompt refund of every $?
If so, then I probably would not put them on the blacklist yet (just the brown one instead)...

I ordered a power window kit that the techs there could not figure out how to install (I figured out later) but at least they had me send it back for a refund on their expense. Of course I never saw the credit back to my card so i had to call... The boneheads entered it as store credit. I was easily able to persuade them to put it back on my card.

My conclusion is that the ones working there are not the sharpest tools in the shed... Another of these places that will not do anything unless you call them. Much better than bap though.

When he told me about it, I told him to call and cancel the $$$. They were closed when he called back so the refund part is unknown at this time, I'm sure I'll hear about it this weekend when I go to the drag strip with him. I'm not ready to put them on the bap list yet, lol, it takes a heck of a bad job to do that.

I have done a lot of business with OPGI and they are a touch expensive and seem to have bigger items on "backorder". I believe they don't stock big items, just order on case by case basis. I must say, they have good customer service and I have never not gotten anything I ordered. I would order from them again!

As Eric stated. I also have orderd lots of parts from OPGI and never had an issue with them. Parts are always timley and complete. As to customer service, out of 10 or so orders online I have never had a need to call them.

better luck next time.

That must be a 3" kit. I bought the 2½" kit with mufflers a couple years ago from Summit and it was about half that much.

It is the 3" kit. He called me and all is well, he got his $$$ back. The part that bothered him is that they didn't say a word about backorder until he called after the time quote they gave him came and went. I'll still get my stuff from them, just shop elsewhere for performance stuff.

OPGI is more expensive than Tamrazs, USA Parts Supply, Rocket Racing, I have yet to order from Tamraz, but had zero issues with the other two.

I have used OPG many times with no problems, in fact I have not had any problems with any mail order vendor, OPG, Year One, Fusick, Bethels Goat Farm, Ecklers, and Summit, but I have never ordered anything I needed tommorrow. Yes I had a few back orders and had a situation that the item OPG shipped was not as described in the catalog correctly but they shipped the correct items out the next day.(1964 bumper bolts)

OPGI has bad customer service and disinterested employees.

Year One has a 30% stock out rate and a lousy web process.

Brothers is run my a bunch of crazy people

The Parts Place is pretty good

Supercars Unlimited is really good

Fusick is the best

My opinion based on 25 years of buying parts and probably $50,000 in purchases

For aftermarket, Summit is tops.

opg has generic a-body crap ...

you are not going to get a trophy ( my trunk #s were a 16th to small, at least they fit in the holes ), they didn't carry crosshatch rear deck pads, the push pins for the rubber seals were the wrong diameter and on and on . I'll give them a call the next time I do a Chevelle = never ...

I've ordered from Fusick and Tamraz's - no problem with either! Tamraz's is great about answering any questions you might have through e-mail too. I like them!
