Opinion on value? 1972 Oldsmobile promo. pieces

Picked these up recently & was told that they were made by Oldsmobile, probably in '71, to promote the 1972 cars as they were displayed around the country. I think there were a handful? of sets of these made? Each panel is 3' x 6' & there are 8 of them. They are a foam board type material & some of the corners are a bit damaged but over all pretty nice for being 44 years old. It looks like they are stenciled & painted maybe? I've never seen a set of these & am just trying to asses some kind of value. Thanks for your input.

Very difficult to predict value. I think they're worth more as a complete set than as individual pieces, but then you have to find someone who is a fan of the '72 cars, who wants all 8 pieces, and who has a big-enough garage to hang them all up in. Such a person may or may not be easy to find.

To me, these look like the perfect candidate for an ebay auction. Set the reserve at whatever you paid for them and see what happens. Take what you can get.

Another thought is that an Olds museum, perhaps the R. E. Olds Transportation Museum in Lansing, would love to have something like this and certainly would have the space to hang them. I'm sure they would only be able to take them as a donation, but you could take a tax deduction. All you have to do is convince the IRS, assuming they ever ask, that they're worth whatever value you claim for them. That would probably be an interesting conversation.

But I am serious about donation to a museum if you can't find anyone to buy them.

They were made for a big dealership. The truth was told above, you need someone with a big enough venue to display the panels. I have smaller unique pieces and thats the biggest complaint where to display them.
If they were mine I would be in the Thousand rage but they are yours and how fast you want them gone will dictate price.
The edges need to be protected from more damage to preserve value.

Hairy,
I was hoping you would see these and that you would give your opinion. I appreciate the advice and information.

A problem for me would be they are just foam and some paint? About 50 bucks give or take today in material and they lack any type of oldsmobile number so they could of just been made down the street from a dealership interesting pieces though and the ebay idea sounds good with 100.00 bucks starting bid off the top of my head

One more avenue would be to contact the American Pickers in Iowa. They are big on buying signs, and sometimes have clients looking for unique items.

There only worth what someone is willing to pay. Probably be easier to sell one at a time. I'm thinking about $100 each. I like the museum idea. Keeps them all together and you could feel good about it.

The only way to find out what someone is willing to pay is to put it up for auction and see what interest it attracts.

I'm not so sure about this. What gives this any value is the "1972" aspect of it. Individually, these signs look like something you could make at Kinko's for a few dollars with some posterboard. Together, with all the model names and the year, they're a piece of history.
