Olds Show Merrick, NY 5/4
Just throwing it out there for those in the NY/NJ/CT area that don't know....
This Sunday (May 4th) is the Oldsmobile show on Long Island (4 Towns Firemans Training Center, Merrick, NY). It's on Merrick Rd, just east of the Meadowbrook Pkwy. If the weather cooperates, it's usually a nice show. Fusick usually brings their parts trailer down so bring your wish lists!

I made it at 2:30 and they already gave out trophy's and most cars left!
Good thing Fusick was still there i picked up a few things.

I got there around 11:15 and cars were already starting to trickle out. I thought there was a good showing considering the weather was threatening. When I left around 1:15, they were thanking people for coming and announced they were going to start announcing trophies earlier since the weather was turning.
I too spent some time (and $$) at Fusick. Got some new trumpets and some bucket seat parts. Also, I ordered a 442 placement template from their trailer. Since they didn't have 1 with them, they charged me catalog price and offered to ship it to me for free. I thought that was a cool deal.

Hey everyone. There was a good turnout at the show in spite of the weather. Here's some photos I took:

My son liked this one. Maybe it's because it's barely bigger than his hot wheels, lol.

A fuel injected 455. This guy did all the work himself.

This guy brought the car and a golf cart that was made to look like a mid 80's 442. He was driving it around the showfield. Missed getting a picture of it.

This is the car that took 1st place in my class, I took 2nd.

What my 6 year old thought of the show:
IMG_5350_zps2a2d4977.jpg
Not a lot of spectators but it was still a great Oldsmobile show. Glad Fusick's made the trip to come down too.

Thanks guys. I missed all the ClassicOlds forum members there. I had hoped I would have run into a few of you but after my car got judged, my son wanted to walk around and see everything. There's only so much detailing and standing by your car that you can do when the boss wants to go!

I can't even imagine driving in from NJ. Between the roads, potential traffic and "skilled" drivers, it could be a real mess. If I ever drive mine in from NJ, I'd probably make it a 2-day event, driving off-hours. Driving back on a Sunday evening is typically a small nightmare in a newer car.
Maybe some day there will be an Olds/OCA/BOP show in NJ??

I, too, had my 6 yr-old. I'm surprised we were at the show as long as we were (about 2 hours). I can't imagine sitting there for much of the day! That Ferrari near the entrance caught his attention

There is a BOP show next week in Pa, not a bad run for me in Trenton. Its the DVOC chapter show at Granite Run Mall.

I had done the show years ago in my 4spd Delta. Getting there was no problem but coming back...wow bumper to bumper for miles on the Belt Parkway heading for the Verrazano Bridge. Did I say 4spd with a stiff clutch!!

Darrell, great pics! Did you happen to see or know anything about that Turquois '67 442? It looks very familiar. There is an older couple down here in Dix Hills that own one exactly like it, and they are the original owners. They wrecked it on the LIE last year pretty bad. They were OK, but the car was totaled. Frame was bent, and it needed a complete nose. My friend who owns Island Muscle Cars was going to fix it. He originally restored the car many years ago. They had already bought a parts car to fix it! I had a pic of the wreck somewhere....

Thanks Erik. I didn't get to talk to the owner of the 67 442, they weren't around the car. I think most everyone left their cars after judging and walked around to see everything else before they left.

We normally have 60 + cars. Also includes C's (Cadillacs).

Check out link to pictures from last show as well.
Also this NY show looks like a great time as well! Maybe have to take a run there next year.

I own the car now and had to put a chassis in it and redo the whole car.It took me about 10 months. I lucked out and got a NOS hood for it off this site.I asked the previous owners to come with me to the show but they were unable to make it, but on Wednesday I took it over to their house and took them for a ride in it.They really enjoyed it, and I was very happy to make them see that the car is alive and well again.

Thanks, it won a 1st place at the show,so I gave it to the previous owners to add to their collection. The car holds very fond memories for them. Hopefully this eased the pain of the accident for them.

Very selfless move....I first saw that car in person at one of the National Meets years ago. You have a beautiful car there. Same color as my '65 Vista!
