Old memories
I was reading the thread of gearhead1218 and remembered my first Oldsmobile, combination. In 57 I was in the US Air Force in Bangor Maine where i meet a kid that was into hotrods ,he had a 50 ford 2 dr sedan all beat to crap with a 56 Olds V-8 motor and a Lincoln _Zepher rear end ,a LaSalle trans with a 3 speed on column . That car could beat anything on 4 wheels ,New or otherwise . Had to hold it in 1'st gear cause the gear was worn so bad ,but it would bury the needle in the 1/4 mile . I took it to PA on leave and traded it for a 51Victoria 2drHT 3 days later i was driving along and this kid pulls beside me and gives me this DARE look ,I just laughed and let him GO_GO. anyone of you had any cars like this one ,lets hear about it.

Now that was a real HOT ROD! I remember a '71 Cutlass I owned once. Warmed over 350/350 not many go-fast parts but it was screamer. Maybe it was how I drove then. If I could go back in time and take a ride with myself when I was 24 years old in that thing my young self would probably make my old self have a heart attack, ak-ak. (as Billy Joel sang).

Yea if only we could, How many times have we heard that saying .reminds me of leaving Mifflinburg PA one morning shortly after midnite and sitting in front of Bangor Daily news at 8:30 same morning ,scares the crap out of me just thinking of the stupid things I did when younger. course there was'nt as many cars or cops on the roads then .

Had a couple myself. 1956 chev 389 gto tripower motor B&N Hydro won a lot of money on stoplight drags, 32 duce full race flat head lincoln 3 speed and a ruxel 2-speed rear end Harley front fenders that turned with the steering 40 ford dash. Blew small block chevys away 1/8 of a mile then ran out of legs. great fun
