OAI scoops?

In reading thru some older threads, it looks like the repop '68 OAI scoops offered by some of the vendors were junk. Has that situation improved recently?

Not sure? what makes them junk? Have you seen and compared them? At this point of time, you don't have many options. There can't be many good original ones out there. So what option do you have? To me we are lucky that someone make some of theses aftermarket parts, as there is not many options.

Jon, The parts place now offers fully assembled OAI scoops for both the '68 & '69 cars. The '68 part # is BP1000T for $369. They have all the mounting brackets & the stainless moldings, definitely the way to go! I bought mine from them back in '13 & had to assemble them. It sucked to say the least!! I sent the first set of scoops back because they looked horrible, they were all scratched & they didn't even match, one was really glossy, one was duller. There were no markings on the scoops for drilling the holes for the brackets, also I had to do some trimming to get the moldings on. They came out nice but it was allot of trial & error. There also used to be a guy named Mike(thegoodoldsdays.com) that also sold really nice assembled repros for $399, But I saw some other posts on this site that he's not answering his emails anymore, I tried his website & it doesn't seem to work anymore??? I haven't seen the parts place assembled ones in person, hopefully their quality has improved in the last 4 yrs but I sure wish they were available back when I did mine!!!

It's amazing to me when I ask a vendor about the quality of the scoops that they side-step the question. Here I am willing to give them my money and all I want is to be told that, yes, they're good quality products. But nope, they won't say it. I've tried two different vendors (yes, I know they come from the same place).

It was Mike that made the nice heavy scoops. I have a set on the red '70.

I think he's out of the picture at this point, for more reasons than one.
