My new Ride!!!! 69 Cutlass Supreme!!

Hi guys!

I'm new to this forum (see thread here: https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...questions.html )

Found this car about 3 weeks, but did not had the time to see it until today!!!!
DEAL DONE!!

One of my dream car!!!!

It's a 1969 Cutlass Supreme V8 350ci, Holiday Coupe!
Engine casting number: 395558 (does match!!)
Vin: 342879Z111655

Nice car!! Engine runs great, and the car drives so smooth! So happy!!

Paint job and new interior would be done this winter!!
Emblems and chrome trim have been removed by previous owner for new paint job, but got them all!

Some pics!!

Have fun with that. I envy you being in the beginning stages of a build. Anything is possible at this point. BTW, you need another air freshener to balance things out on the pass side.

Why is your steering wheel upside down?
Funny looking license plate- Europe?

Solid start, looks great.

I noticed that too, after noticing the fat cover first which just seems weird to me. I didn't notice the license plate though.

Congrats on getting the car and welcome to CO.

Thanks a lot for all your comments guys!!

Yes, these are French license plates!

Steering wheel is upside down because wheels are not straight, but I confirm that while driving, it is in the right position!

This (ugly) fat cover will be taken off as soon as I'll drive the car home!!

Today was a good day!

I bring the Cutlass home!!
Made 160miles mostly on highway!! Runs and drives great!

Made a break to eat and notice some smoke coming from the exhaust manifold!
Once at home, there was nothing smoking!

Passenger side floor is very wet! Don't know where the water did come in...
Don't know if car sat under rain last days or can it be a problem with heater?

Data plate:
69-34287 BF = so 1969, Cutlass Supreme from Fremont, CA. (?)
TR 974 B80 = Gold interior with chrome roof moldings (?)
P: 59 G = meadow green (?)
11D = ??
Am I right?

Car will be by mechanic newt week for new oil, trans and rear axle liquids, , new oil, air and fuel filters...new gaskets...
And I'll replace spark plugs, coil, distributor rotor and cap and wire set soon!

Soooooooooooooooooooo glad!!!!

A leaking heater core is a very likely cause.

Car actually on stands, because it needs new front bearings!

Brand new grant steering wheel!! (took off the ugly fat cover!!)

And a before/after cleaning pic from the original (!!!) 1969 SSI wheels!!

Coming along nicely. Tape off the chrome and shoot the black areas with a nice satin black, then replace those rusty lug nuts with new chrome ones. That will dress up those wheels even more. The SS1 center cap emblems are repopped so they can be replaced with nice crisp ones that will make the overall wheel just pop!

Steering wheel looks nice. Only thing I don't like about Grant wheels (tried one) was I think the overall diameter is smaller and it cut off my view of the gages. Hope yours works out perfectly.

Mine has exactly the same diameter as the original steering wheel!
Will take your advices for the wheels!

Uh oh, now you've done it. You had to go and mess with it. 10 days after I brought mine home (same 1969 Cutlass Supreme Holiday Coupe) I started to replace it's faulty alternator. The engine and trans have been pulled, the chassis is in my garage getting torn down and rebuilt and the body is now sitting on stands, under cover next to my house. Your only hope is to not read any of the threads in the major projects section. Additionally look in the parts for sale section and see if anyone has a MAW hat for sale.

Congratulations on your new toy.

Scott
