My new to me 1953 98

Here is my new to me 1953 Oldsmobile 98 four door sedan. I just love these old cars.

My buddy giving her the once over ...

Goodies in the trunk ...

Interior redone ... not sure about the materials used though ...

Needs some detailing under the hood for sure ...

Got home in rainy conditions ...

Looks good in my driveway

I am looking forward to attending the local show and shines with this car. She's a nice old car!

Nice looking 53 you should do well at the shows, everyone's grandpa had a early Old's and they love to tell you about it.

Does that gold motor mean that it is a 371 or did someone paint it the wrong color, Just curious....Tedd

I will check the stamping on the block and report my findings.

Nice. Looks like the original B.F. Goodrich tire as a spare! I still have one that came with my '55. Sweet ride. Larry

Except for the smoothies, looks identical to the one my folks had when I was born. My first car ride- black 1953 Ninety Eight sedan.

I took some pics of the engine. I don't really know what I am looking for ... as far as identifying the engine.

Firing order stamped on the intake ...

Passenger side bank ...

Driver's side bank ...

Any help you guys could give ... and/or directives on what to look for ... is greatly appreciated! I want to try to positively identify this engine.

Congrats! It looks very straight.
I had the same car in high school, but emerald green metallic with a white top. It's long gone. Rust, and then a ruined engine block did it in in about 1980. I loved that car. I even had the same wheels on mine.
I've never seen a '53 Ninety Eight without power steering. The engine looks original, except for the spray bomb gold, and the fuel filter is an add on.

Yep it has 53 stamped heads ( #3), the rest looks original to the year. What is going on with the batwing air cleaner ? It appears the top half is riding higher than normal. Has a paper filter been been added inside instead of the oiled screen?... Tedd
