Thumbs up My Cutlass replacement - '79 T/A Anniv Ed

As I posted previously I let my Cutlass convertible go to a new home. It is safely in Denmark in the capable hands of a fellow member Sircujun. I've been looking for a replacement & picked this up. I wanted a car closer to stock & with A/C and didn't want another A-Body at this time.
Its a '79 10th Anniversary TA survivor with 73K miles. It runs well but hasn't been used regularly in a few years so its needs a top to bottom detailing & all the maintenance items gone through. It runs well & drives nice. When I bought it I flew into Boston & drove it home 240 miles to Long Island with an inch of dust on it. It is 403 Olds powered. 8-)

Before I washed it

After I ran it through a car wash. Tires are old & as luck would have it the conveyor @ the car wash blew out the front tire. I had to use the pristine space saver spare. FML.

New tires for now. We are getting piles of snow this week so not too much yet. I wanted a car to keep closer to stock so not much except maintenance & repairs. It needs a full tune up, top to bottom detailing, & have to get the radio hooked up & make sure the A/C is working properly. When spring (finally) gets here I'd like to get the rims polished.

Great looking car!

I've always liked trans ams,I'm a former camaro owner x3.
My Brother is into T/A's also,he's on his 3rd now.
I always enjoy driving his cars.

Enjoy your drives in that fine looking car.

Nice car...congrats!
Instantly brought a memory..
Grade nine..hanging out in the parking lot and a grade 12 guy came into the lot in a TA identical to yours. He did a nice donut or two...and left us with the smoke....man, we all loved that car...sorry for the rant...enjoy the car!

Cool car! Don't see many of those around, especially that clean. If you ever get the itch for an a-body olds again, they aren't hard to find...

I always liked those cars also. I don't want to be a bad person but (lol) I have never taken a car to those kinds of car wash. I worked at one during the 1960's. Recycled water (salt bath in winter) brushes hold dirt, ripped antennas etc. I only use quarter spray off or home car wash.Good luck with your TA. Ken

I can't tell you how many of those Trans Ams I butchered putting car stereos into back in the '80s! It was gruesome! But it was the height of the stereo generation and I was making a living. Sort of anyway. Well built cars for the most part and that one looks to be well kept. Congrats on finding a nice one!

Sweet! I had a black and gold '79 in high school. 403 Olds auto and 3.42 posi. burnout machine! I thought those wheels only came on the turbo cars Ron, am I mistaken?
