Lost Cowl Tag

I have a 1957 Olds 98 that was passed down from my father. When it was restored the cowl tag was misplaced. Any thoughts on into to get info on the car (build sheet). I would like to sell the car but am afraid without this information it will be difficult. I only have the VIN tag in door.

Unlike Pontiac Historical Services, there is no source for build sheet info on Oldsmobiles unless the car was built or originally sold in Canada. GM of Canada was required to retain this info on Canadian cars.

Selling the car without a cowl tag is not really a big an issue, but trying to sell a car without a VIN is a signifcant problem. I wouldn't let a missing cowl tag stand in the way of a serious buyer.

Since you have the VIN, here is a database that will help you a bit with your car. http://classiccardatabase.com/specs....57&model=27857

The trim plate typically looked like this (as an example).

If you have the original colors still on the car, and know what options it had, you could likely buy a reproduction one. I get that it's a frowned upon move in the car community, so it's up to you. Here's a link to an ebay vendor that offers this service http://www.ebay.com/itm/Camaro-Ponti...JW3sKK&vxp=mtr
