i need a part number identified

i located a set of valve springs that are NOS with a part number on them of 404729. would anyone know what engine they would be for? i don't think i can even confirm they are Oldsmobile but they are with alot of other Oldsmobile parts so i am guessing they are.

Parts book list it as a 69 400 CI OAI intake/exhaust sprint. Looks like it is also used on a 70 4400 ST OAI? and 74 455 ci opt. W30 .and 455 marine...This is what I was able to look up..Maybe someone else can give you more info..

Rob- you never seen a BBO or Buick driving an irrigation pump?

Tobacco farmers around here would get a junkyard 455, run it wide open watering tobacco for a season or two till it was worn out, then go get another one.

Irrigation was a big market for Oldsmobile as well as Ford and Chrysler.

The farmers didn't want to have to replace them every two weeks...

My father told me the power packs used to start the B52s in the Air Force were run by Buick Nailheads. It's not uncommon to have auto engines in many different applications for industry and farming.

Those Buick powered 'start carts' were also used with the infamous SR-71.... & prolly some others.

I've heard claims that BBOs were also used, but I've never seen any proof...

thanks guys, it looks like i may list these for the owner on eBay sometime in the future. neither him or me know what they would be worth so we may let the market decide. with aftermarket spring quality i wouldn't think these would be a crazy priced part.
