Awesome little option!
You hold it up to your face and look through it when you drive. The random motions you would see through it would be traffic!
As for value, I would have no clue. Neat for sure...

for automobiles with large exterior sun visors in the 40s & 50s. Fulton was a popular manufacturer. placing that viewer on the dash allowed the driver, while sitting at a stop light, to see the stop light reflected in the viewer.

LOL, really? Someone actually sold a device so that people wouldn't have to lean close to the windshield to see if the light was green yet? Personally, I just wait for the guy to my right to go, or better yet I dont get right under the dang light. I stay a little bit back so I can see the light, get this, even with the visor DOWN!
Pretty cool piece of history, I must say.

ever drive to a different state and notice how the lights are in different positions. I forgot where I was recently maybe Florida and realized it wasn't easy to see the lights as they were much closer overhead than what I am used to here in Chicago - if you trust the guy next to you he could be moving into traffic - you'd just be following him over the cliff

What if the person in the car next to you is thinking the same thing and waiting for somebody to move before they go?
You two would be sitting at the light all day waiting for the guy next to you.
Guy on your right to go?, what if you're on a one lane road or in the curb lane???
"911... what is your problem?"
"I'd like to report a skeleton sitting in an old car with a big sun visor waiting for the light to change."
If only he would of had a traffic light viewer.

So it now seems more frivolous that it really was 50-75 years ago.

Here in FL, (at least locally) the trend is to put the lights on the near side of the intersection, so that the cross traffic can't see the other lights. I don't know if this is to avoid "confusion" or if people were watching the cross traffic lights and trying to time them if they saw it turning. I know I've done that, but you have to know about the turn arrows!
In my '58 I sit pretty high and yeah, it can be tough to see the lights. In my Vista, the paint is good enough I watch the reflection there.
I'll go $18.

Out Bid !!!
Please refer to the page scan from Guide bulletin 8A-101, 6-1-1953. Note both styles of viewers available, at same time. I point this out as your viewer is boxed for the brand-x GM line, where some have the argued opinion the shell type was 'early' only. Both styles were offered across the GM line for many years, and also possibly some of the independent makers, and over the counter for any vehicle, please refer to counter display at bottom.
Both styles are in reproduction now, some authorized, and of varying quality. The mounting boss from a bootleg would work with this viewer, I've seen them for as little as $29 (but it's been a few years). The REAL trick is to find the correct template for mounting location, for your exact year and model car, those are GOLD, or the more precious UNOBTAINIUM.
I'll go $30 - Best - CW

I see where it would have come in handy for driving the Chev. Though there is only 1 light in greenwood , 1 in Kingston and None in Middletown , the 3 towns within 10 miles from me.
