Fuel pump to carb line - right stuff detailing

I've been mocking up an engine since my engine was torn apart before I got it. On the fuel line, my bender and flare tool won't let me make a nice, clean bend going into the carb nose due to the tight radius, so I ordered a repro line from right stuff detailing.

See pic below for what I received. Sigh... Nothing is ever easy...

Send it back. Start over with a fresh flared line, there is a spring like device/tool that slides over your steel line that should allow for a sharper bend (spring prevents line from kinking). Check at Harbor Freight for bending tools. You are right, nothing is easy!

Ha, Ironically when I ordered a small block line from them, I got sent what you have. Except it didn't fit the fuel pump correctly (at the carb was fine). not even close. I called The Right Stuff, the guy walked back into their warehouse and grabbed another line based off my description and sent it to me free of charge. It was kinda close but still wouldn't work. At least they tried unlike some other vendors of which I've heard horror stories.

You might try Greg Rollin at Supercars Unlimited as thats who had the correct line I ended up using.

I got mine from Fusick, part#6803FL-$23.50. I'm running an Edelbrock O4B intake so I had to tweak it a bit since the carb sits higher but all the bends were fine. It fit very well,no problems.

Thanks guys. I sent an email with these pics to right stuff last night, we'll see what they reply with this week. I'll call supercars if it doesn't work out.

Wow that really makes one appreciate correct fitting factory parts.

This should be in the "Parts that just don't work" thread.

It is, frankly, WORSE than the one I tried to use from the Lyin' Bubes. I would relate at this time the ending of that story... but they have yet to apoligize for their atrocious behavior and lying so that's where the story stands. Didn't fit at all, and could not be made to fit w/o destroying the line, which I was not willing to do.

I still want to see a Kryta Witt Cage Match.

Rob, where is that battery cable off to? The trunk?

Koda "where is that battery cable off to?The trunk?" I don't understand what you mean,it's a 4 speed car & that's the way the cable is suppose to be installed down to the starter. It is one long big cable.

Ok. I thought it was the positive battery cable, not the starter cable.

It is the positive battery cable and it is run correctly. The other leg of the postive battery cable (small wire) runs to the horn relay

Update... talked to Right Stuff today, they were very helpful and nice. They aren't convinced its an issue with their template, but they immediately offered for me to tweak it (even if I kink it) and they'll replicate it from a new line so it works. I mentioned this line was so far off that it wouldn't even thread in due to interference with oil fill tube, but they said it matches their template.

If it doesn't work out I'll go the Supercars route. I was buying a bunch of stuff from Summit already, so it was easy to add this to the order...

Looks like your carb needs to be relocated is all!

Templates can get bent.
Lines bent to look like correct can be very wrong upon test fit to actual parts.

The 'Bubes' tube LOOKED like the OEM one that fit right, if laid side by side on the table. As soon as I put a rod in the end of the tubes, to show the actual angle of the last bit of tube, the problem was clear.

I offered to make a jig that the line must fit and send the jig, but got no reply. No longer jobless so that offer is no longer valid.

Try packing it VERY firmly with sand and tape the ends, the sand will help to keep its shape. I did this on brake lines on another build, it worked great.
