Floor vent **** replacement
Hello Guys
I want to remove and replace my floor vent ***** ( chrome looking/plastic ) on my 1970 Olds 442 W30, my question is are they pressed on or glued etc and what is the easiest way to change them.
Thanks

If you find just the *****, when you try to remove the old ones they will probably brake. Then just glue on the new ones. I had to replace the cable, as I did not find just *****, but this was years ago, maybe now you can get them.

Use a good pair of wire cutters to cut/destroy/remove the old *****. You'll never get them off otherwise as they have a "barbed" internal hole that prevents them from coming off.
Test fit your new *****.....they may be a bit stubborn to put on. If so, you can file down the aluminum rod a bit or slightly drill out the new "chrome" plastic *****. You may have to use a dab of epoxy inside the hole if you drill them out as they may be a bit too loose. Just go slow and check things as you go. I've installed the replacement ***** before and the hole in them seems to small to get them to press on all the way. You don't want to put the aluminum pull rod tightly in a vice, etc for obvious reasons.
