We have an experimental autonomous bus here at my workplace that prowls the parking lot most mornings. I rode in it when they first started it, and I was impressed. Of course, we have a tech that rides along and monitors it, but it has no driver controls aside from the tech having his laptop with him, and I think there might be an emergency stop button. Anyway... right now, it is still operating at very low speed, I think maybe only 5mph range. It's pretty slick, even though I only used it the one time. In general, it's running too slow to be of any benefit, but I would wait for it to come around if it was really rainy.
EDIT: OK, clicked on the link, ours looks VERY similar to this. I think the top speed of the BEEP being only 16mph may be a hindrance to usage, but this is where autonomous vehicles will start -- mass transit and delivery vehicles. Exciting stuff.

That's like saying WWII was "exciting stuff".
Christians being eaten by lions is "exciting stuff".
ISIS is "exciting stuff".
I call it a goddam tragedy. When that system gets hacked or fails, lots of folks are going to die. The general principle is predictable as sunrise, but not as often.
