does anyone repair mechanical temp gauges

I have a Stewart Warner temp gauge that was installed in the car in the early 70's, and would like to keep it in there, but the cable has been cut off.
Does anyone know if these can be repaired or if there is a repair kit available?
I know I can buy a new one, but this has been part of the car's history for nearly 50 yrs which is why I like to keep it / repair it.... thanks!

How are you going to reinstall the ether in the temp-sensing bulb?

The folks who made it to begin with might be able to repair it. My guess is nobody bothers--they'll sell you a new one for less than the repair cost.

you use a modern..gauge, stick the bulb in dry ice..use a pipe cutter and sweat it on with solder and a small pipe...its extremely easy if youre mechanically inclined..people have been restoring SW stuff like this for at least 2 decades
