Do what you gotta do to get the job done.

Bought a '69 Supreme with power bench seat & needed to move the seat to get to the seat track bolts. No battery or front clip but I carry a spare battery in my van. Pulled some wire from the harness but no battery terminals. But i do have a pipe wrench & adjustable wrench in tool box. Power to the circuit breaker for the seat, ground to lower windshield area & bam, a complete circuit to move the seat.

lol, power seats can suck in these situations. You are lucky the gear box wasn't gumed up so bad it wouldn't work.

Funny. I've carried a motorcycle battery to junkyards for the same purpose.

Note: Do not carry motorcycle battery in junkyard in bag full of wrenches. Ask me why...

I had a 70 Buick GS455 that had the power driver seat but the pulley and belt was missing that connected the motor to the gear box. The gear box had an access point to manually run the gearbox. I can't remember what I used, maybe an Allen bit, and put it in a drill and ran the seat back and forth easily to access the bolts. I later bought a 67 Riviera that had the same setup but complete and took all the parts off it to fix the GS.

When you pull a power seat out, you should also remove the rear welded floor brackets so someone can install a pwr seat.
