Have a look, how many 'errors' can you find, besides the asking price? http://www.ebay.ca/itm/ws/eBayISAPI....ht_1724wt_1257

i thought w30's did not come with power brakes, the stripes look wrong too on the hood they are too square, i think those wheels where not offered in 71, and the rear quarter has some weird bubbles, i think the headlight bezels are wrong too. the junction go on the fender ? im no olds buff just seeing if i made the right calls lol.

Power brakes and A/C were factory available with the W-30 starting with the 1970 model year. As I've noted previously, the dirty little secret is that these cars did NOT get the radical W-30 cam, which is how they were able to generate enough vacuum. How they still made the same amount of HP is a mystery of the marketing department.

Elliot's car sold at Russo a number of years ago. It's probably this one, which has black stripes:

I don't believe the car on eBay is 1 of 10 with AC - they made that up. Come to think of it, I think they've had the car for quite awhile because that claim seems like deja vu.

Hey Copper,
The wheels are SS1's but they should have trim rings - not chrome so you get 1 point for that.
Headlight bezels are correct - they were painted black in 72, not 71.
Fender gaps are ok (considering) but I was really surprised the rear quarter shows drips and wasn't cleaned for the photo - especially if it's going to be a 6 figure car.
Power disc front brakes (JL2) were required if the W30 package was changed to include M40 trans. However the brake booster should be cad plated and have the Delco Moraine stamping.
I think the hood stripes, body and trunk stripes look ok myself.

I think its a pretty nice looking car actually - not sure it (or any car like it) is worth 175k though. just nutty pricing out there. I doubt only 10 of the 110 convertibles had AC. Many, many 442 convertibles I have seen have AC including the W30s. Oldsmobiles tended to have more options and as Joe mentioned by 1970 the auto trans W30 was really no different than an auto trans 442.
There are definitely some little things wrong like the color of the booster and the jack etc. But it does have shoulder belts for the front occupants, that's a rare option if they were original.

Yup, prolly so. So tell me you'd pay that kind of $$$ for a rock blasted quarter?? I think those bubbles are CC that dripped. There are too many pics showing a lack of attention to detail for that price.

That's how it PROVES it's pedigree. Of turdliness. Speaks of documents, but are no where in the ad.
I want to see, VIN, BUILD SHEET, heads Rear, and intake........ in that order. Everything else I can go buy from a 3k **** box.

Good eye Joe! The other numerals and W30 emblem look ok though.
Actually it's in the right place for a 455 without Y72 HD cooling. It would be on the DS if it was a 350 or a 455 with Y72 cooling.

Apologies! I just couldn't deduce that from the info in the dealers guide about P05. Glad to have your first hand knowledge, thank you
add: I just looked up the P05 option for 1972 and it's the same as what you describe with chromed parts. Where do I find the part about 7" though?

Ted, too hard to tell since they would be bolted to the backside of one of the spring bolts. BUT, if you meant "I don't see the lower air dam reinforcement that should be on there" you'd be right! It was only used in 1971 on the 4400 (442) cars.

Both my 70 cars have the air dam

You mean the reinforcement piece (part 410410)? I'd still love to have detailed pics and measurements of one of those. Might even be able to fabricate one of my own from the info. You game to take one off and do the honors?

As if a flimsy tubular fender brace was going to keep a convertible chassis with a 455 from flopping around
