I know the car. A previous owner couldn't make a solid case that it was a former chesrown car. It may have been, but he couldn't prove it without a doubt. It is a real nice W-30. I see they put in a blow proof bellhousing after busting the original muncie, bellhousing, snapping the driveshaft in two and busting the 4sp console racing at the Pure Stock Drags roughly 11 years ago. There is also a little filler in the pass qtr from clipping a mailbox many years ago, iirc.
It was in the Ray Skillman collection (south side of Indy) after the guy I know sold it.

I owned this car about 9 years ago after purchasing the car from a dealer in Chicago. At that time it had silver hood stripes and all matching #'s. We painted the stripes red as we thought it would be a better match. Sanded parts of the hood down to metal and never found any previous signs of red, only silver.
Yes the car is an original Chesrown Olds car, but could not directly link it to Smothers brother Racing team so it should never be presented that way for sale. I added graphics at one time for show purpose only while giving the car a totally different look.
Car ran really strong and yes we blew the tranny at the Pure Stocks. I was fortunate enough to have a guy come up to me at the drags and sold me a replacement Muncie for $375 so thats what is in the car now. Got her running again with no problems.
it's a legit W30 even though no window sticker. I have included a pic I took from inside the drivers fender well with grease pencil marking showing "W-30" This was not added and was tucked almost out of sight.
Real fun car while the time i owner it.

What did the car run at the pure stock drags? Did you run the Dale Smith factory cheater cam from back in the day or the W 30 cam?
Very nice car to have owned and nice to see you drove it like it was intended to be driven.
