bought a 1965 442 today... need help with data & protecto plate codes

hello all i bought a 65 442 today sight unseen because it was located about 600 miles north of where i live. i sent my dad over to check it out because he lives about 20 miles away from where the car was being stored. looks like a nice original garage find. i'll post pics once i get it down here to my house. my dad was able to validate all of the obvious things to the 65 442... (4 holes in trailing arm brackets, boxed rear lower control arms, rear sway bar, 389298 B casting on engine block etc) it "appears" to be all original but i know 1965 is one of those years that a real 442 can be hard to authenticate. i did not validate the stamp on the passenger side cylinder head but i do have a pic of the data plate & protecto plate that came with the car. i was able to decode some of the options but there are some others (with question marks) that i really have no clue. can someone help me figure this out?

You should have a 4v on that data plate to be a true 442 !!only Fremont cars didn't have it as a 442 from my understanding!!

Check out 442bro.com all the info on data plate as well as option codes are on that sight

Also check out 29boards.net great sight

B block is from a 442 65 only block and it should have A heads on the front left (drivers) side should have a Vxxxx code if the motors been apart it could be in the right side fire wall side
Post pics if car when you get a chance

Also 442 had a hd frame convert and any stander transmission car also had the hdframes vert had a number to verify 442

so far looks like a 442,car was built in fremont so it wont have a 4v, frame will be one piece if 442 frame, cutlass frame welded right before it curves up in front of rear end. like oldstata said 442bro.com is great

here you go. these were sent to me by the seller before i purchased the car. i haven't even seen it yet. i can't wait to get her home. supposedly it was purchased from the original owners & stored for over 20 years... my dad says it sure looks that way. appears to be completely unmolested. although it has had one repaint from the 1980's. drivers mirror was in the glove box. yes, bro442 is where i got most of my info. great site! although i wish i could find out what those other codes mean

V006833 = Engine Unit # (442 specific 400 ci)
Y = February '65 Build Month Code
BF4836 = Should match your cowl tag. Stands for Fremont with a Fisher Body # of 4836
NJ072 = Just a guess but I am thinking NJ = transmission code and 072 = transmission unit #??

If you get a chance there was a guy matching block numbers to build dates
So your was a February build post up the numbers by the distributor hole in the block most seen to be. 120
If you ever pull the heads off get the number in the bottom as well and post it up
Also that vcode should match the head v code

You have your dealer number
Tk65 has a thread listing knowen dealer check his list if it's not on there post it so he can document it
Thanks Justin
