Bench test fuel gauge

Bench test fuel gauge

is there a way to bench test a 69 fuel gauge?

Is this a gauge you've removed? There is a 12v, a sensor, and a light connection, you need to ground the case. If the sense connection is open the gauge will read past F, if you short the sensor to ground then it will read E.

Ok so pin #4 is 12v ignition?

Pin 3 from the right is 12v, pin 4 looks to be the sensor. Pins 1, 2, 5, and 6 are idiot lights. Pin 7 is instrument lights.
