1965 Oldsmobile Starfire convertible
This is my 65 Oldsmobile Starfire convertible. Got it from the original owner in 2012 for my dad. I restored it for him and just recently took possession of it after my mother passed away.

Larry Ford's (yes,my real last name) 1964 Olds 98 Convertible
Here are some more pictures of my 64 "boat". I've had her for four years and worked with my mechanic friend George Martinez to install front disc brakes, air conditioning (with original dash vents from eBay) and electronic AC controls hidden in the oversized former ashtray. We also installed an electric fuel pump, new alternator, electronic ignition, and made a fuel sending unit from parts of three different fuel sending units. She's a 394 with an Edelbrock 4bbl, rebuilt original transmission, Coker 3" wide whitewall BF Goodrich tires, and of course...Oppenheimer chrome valve covers. Florida heat can be tough so we also installed an electric fan, new thermostat, industrial heat gauge, and a new aluminum radiator.
The only issue she has now are floppy sun visors, even though I installed new latches and soft plastic bushings. Please let me know if any of you has a fix for this. Thank you.

For throttle pics, these are from ‘66’s, but I’m guessing this will help:

"radio resistance wires are correct for the 60s. They were a result of the threat of nuclear war (!) with the fear that some people running solid core wire wouldn't be able to tune their radio to the Emergency Broadcast System frequency and hear the emergency instuctions to kiss your butt goodbye (those of you old enough to remember that piercing tone that began the test, raise your hands). President Kennedy issued a Presidential Order back in 1961 requiring they be factory installed on most cars by a certain deadline."

Olds 98
You are right, I have only seen one other 98 here in NZ, my old Delta 88 is in Tauranga and there may be a couple of Starfire.
Parts are the problem, but we can obviously get some from USA , with freight being the killer.
If anyone in NZ or Australia has a 62 would love to make contact

This is my ‘64 Oldsmobile 98 Luxury Sedan in Midnight Mist with a blue interior. As far as I can tell it sat in the woods of Alaska for 50 years probably after the accident that put all the dents in it. It still has it’s 1970 “North To The Future” license plate last registration expiring in 1972. After seeing the posts on here, I am happy to be taking care of this car. Love the lines on it.

My 1969 Ninety-eight
Inherited from Dad. It was my Grandfather's car. More or less neglected in indoor storage for 25 years. I am resurrecting now. I have a build thread. Here are a couple of pictures. First pictures is 1970 when it was new. I am the kid between Dad and Grandpa. The next picture is when I found it in the shed last year.

Parts
This forum, of course, is dominated by the "A" bodied cars.
I'm starting this thread , and dedicating it to 88's, 98's, Starfires, Jetstars, and Fiesta's.
I borrowed the term " darksider " from a Pontiac forum.
What's a darksider ? Well, It's kinda like most of the hobby is concentrated on the "A" body cars, and the "B"& "C " bodies are on the darkside of the moon.
Life is a little tougher for a "darksider" because there is little support in the production of reproduction parts.
Still, us "darksiders" forge ahead with our restorations with used or NOS parts when we can find them.
I started this thread so that we can identify ourselves to each other, and share as much information as possible.
I would appreciate it if everyone who owns a 61-70 full size car would post a pic of it and tell us a little about it.
I will start it off by showing my 63 Dynamic 88 Holiday 2 door. I bought it 3 years ago out of NM . It's in 10,000 pieces right now. But I'm doing it Johnny Cash style. "One piece at a time".

Hi! I just recently got a 61 dynamic 88 bubble top no post car. I need the dash pad and a turn signal lever arm. Anyone have one they are willing to part with? Thank you?
