$500 Olds convertible on the road!

The car itself was free. The price includes tires, battery, tuneup, alternator and registration fees/new plates.
Thank you all so much for your technical help and advice. Together, we have saved this old girl from the crusher.

Congrats on a job well done. The old gal looks pretty darn good. She just needs some new clothes and she will be ready to take to the prom.

More before and after pics

Just wanted to add more pics. Continuing to drive and restore, lots of cleaning to do including waxing & buffing. Lots of oxidation and 'patina' but its coming together.

$Free is the best price.

Looks like you done good. I'm very impressed by the lack of rust, too.

Thanks everyone!
Couldn't have done it without you.
Still have to replace exhaust, carpet, top, sundry other bits, but lots of love from my co-workers, friends, etc. in the meantime.

Great find. Looks like it will be a fun car to drive.
I have a '71 myself. I've been looking for a trailer hitch for it, so if you find you will be removing it I may be interested.

Chassis and paint pics

Got it in the air today to inspect the exhaust, etc.
No catalytic converters (thank you God!!), but pipes still need to be replaced.

Dupont polish works well for very oxidized finish. Hand polished first, as not to damage the paint that's left. Gonna hand polish again, then hit with a buffer.

No catalytic converters until 1975.

Looks pretty good under there.

Your car screams for whitewall tires!

The one on my 1979 CJ7 just disappeared one day...

Still loving the blackwalls!
