1972 442 455 4 barrel Carburetor Part Number

I know you've been asked this one-thousand times. Is the correct carburetor PN 7042251? Date code 10:12 equals what build date for the carburetor?
Also, I want to verify the correct side stripes. Are the side stripes the same as the '70 442 or did Olds change the number of side stripes to three? One larger stripe approximately 3/8"in the center, surrounded by one smaller stripe above and below the center stripe? A drawing will be helpful.
Good news: No W-30 side stripes!!!
Thanks

thank you. The stripes for '72 442 are posted where and I will look for the drawing.

Regarding the carburetor 7042953. The current carburetor 7042251 date coded 10:12 ties into the 101st day. Roughly March, 1972. The car was built May 1972. So that sounds correct. The current carburetor 7042251 is for what engine in 1972?

Thank you

i searched for both questions asked. I can not determine if '72 442's have three stripes. I looked into Phoenix Graphics .
Regarding the carburetor, 7042251 is on the car with the appropriate Julian date code corresponding to the cars build date. I checked your posts and you have a 455 4 barrel carburetor 7042251 for sale.
I asked for help. Thank you for your kindness .

Thank you for the stripe help. Pay no mind to the prior 251 carburetor being incorrect for the '72 455 4 barrel 442 or that it is the correct carburetor for the '72 455 4 barrel 442. To be clear, this is a U code not an x code W-30 .I appreciate your help clarifying the correct carburetor for this car. Thanks again.

My painter followed the ‘71 assembly manual to layout the “442” stripes. I tried to upload pics of an original ‘71 442 fender, but no bueno, pm your email, if you need the pics. Glad you’re staying original!

That is the correct carb for the 1972 455 U codes. 101st day Julian Code is April 10, 1972 - same day as my car was built.

Great. Thanks for clarifying the carburetor on the car is correct and that the carburetor was built before the car.
I appreciate your clarification and your help.

EDIT: Correction - Carb for 455 should be 7043251, not 7042251. The 251 made me think it was 3251.

What a confusing thread, just as 7042251 was correctly identified as the correct carb number for a regular 72 455, we are now revising it to 7043251? The fourth digit is for the model year, hence 7043251 is for a 73 regular 455 carb.
To further clarify, a 70 350 would be 7040250, a 455 would be 7040251. A 71 350, 7041250 and a 71 455 7041251 and so on. 70 and 71 442s and W30s have their own numbers as do the 72 X code W30s. You have the correct carb at 7042251.

Hey Brian, yeah I don't know what came over me. I know the difference between 7042250 and 7042251, and 7043251. For some strange reason I can't explain I posted that last one. Clearly the 7042251 is the correct carb.
To Harry - I apologize for the confusion that was generated.

Not a problem. We have the number. We all make mistakes.
Thanks,
Harry

2251 should be correct carb. I've had that carb on all my 72 H/O cars, which are "U" code cars.
