1970 olds cutlass supreme Convertible Pace Car
I have a 70 Cutlass Supreme Convertible, I am thinking about selling it. I don't know what it is worth exactly? It is not a rusty car. It one of 60 built with the 350 cu in motor. Y74 code of course. Numbers matching motor.
I am in the air about selling as I have not much time to work on it. It needs a restoration, but I have several new parts. New-Top, disc brakes, brake cylinder, etc. Car is straight with little rust in the RH rear wheel housing. Trunk/floor pans are good. Anybody have an idea what I should ask for if I decide to sell it as is? It is not running and torn down. Seats are redone.
It is a bench split seat car with column shift auto.

According to the Old Cars Price Guide, a complete but non-running 1970 Olds Cutlass Supreme convertible pace car is worth about $6,000. That's a very broad number. As noted by CRUZN 66 and by a few poets over the centuries, a picture is worth a thousand words, so please show us some. The fact that the car is partly disassembled may hurt value as there is always concern (at least if it were me) that parts are missing or unlabeled or who knows what.

As CRUZN mentioned, photos will help. Nobody can even guess without some idea of what they are looking at. Adding your location will help also. It won't affect the value of the car but you might have some interested parties near you.

Considering that exactly none of these in that condition have sold at auction, that number is not exactly based on a statistically valid sample size...

Thanks guys, I have decided to keep my car. It is not every day you can find a muscle car rag top in a field anymore. I would not sell it for $6000. Too good of a car. But alas, keeping it.

Glad to hear that you have decided to keep it... The Y74 optioned vehicles do have value if restored properly... Don't let it get in worse condition, and get into it piece by piece a little at a time if necessary...

I would be interested in it myself.
Worked at the IMS for years dealing with the Pace Cars and Parade cars for the Indy 500.
Can see my 72 442 convert on You tube rolling w/ Ludacris for the 500 parade in 2007. Just one of the many celebrities that rolled in the back of my 442.

1984 - 2006-- Ran the Flag Lot were all the Pace Cars and VIPs parked and got to meet all my heros.
Starting in 2007-2015 I was providing a vintage car or 2 for the 500 Festival Parade the day before the race.
Oldsmobile was always well represented in the parade.
Grew up in a burb between the Speedway and IRP. Worked @ IRP as well.
Used to work out at Pat Vidan's Gym in Speedway. He was the Flag Man back in the day.
Grew up with Jim Hurtubise across the street. His son and I were in Speedway BSA Troop 500.
So the IMS is a part of me for sure. Just an OG Snake Pit Riff Raff back in the day.
Nothing like coming home each day after some racing event smelling like racing fuel and brushing the rubber off myself.
So the Pace Cars and support vehicles heritage and are one of my "Passions" along with the Indy Cars Themselves.

checked and I do not have a file on it. but that being said I also checked the vins at the track and its not there either. although there are 7 cutlass pool cars that have never had a vin listing and it could have been there but no way to know unless you have the indy paper work. its very possible since yours is a bench seat car it had track duty and the build date is early enough.
so I would like to get some information on your car-- do you have any history on it as well as pictures I can put in the file. would love to have a picture of the cowl tag as well.. thanks in advance keith

wow dockolds you were there a long time and I bet saw many cars as well as vips. I collect the boy scout 500 festival patches and have a set up until the last few years. ahh the snake pit I have seen thing about those people. sure wish you were there in the early 70s as a lot of knowledge was lost.

Been going to the Indy 500 since 1967..might had some thing to do with a fence coming down during rained out quals in 74 so some streakers could get on the turn 1 pavement and provide some much needed entertainment that day. By starting to work there in 84 gave me 100% access to everything... I do have some great pics from the day.
