I wanted to put disc brakes on the rear end. I took the drum brakes off and pulled the axle. Then I called Wilwood to see what I needed. They said they couldn't help me because something is not right with the axle and housing. Everything they showed me was an axle with a sealed bearing pressed on to the axle. Mine has a tapered roller bearing with a race deep in the axle housing. I have tried looking this up on the internet and everything shows a sealed round bearing. Does anyone know what is happening. Having trouble shifting to 4th gear. Shifts fine up to 4th, but right when it would shift to 4th it stumbles. Sometimes it will go into 4th after a bit of stumbling, and then torque converter lock up after a few seconds. Passing gear works great, kicks down and plenty of power. Transmission shop doesn’t think it’s a transmission problem because it’s not slipping, just having trouble going into gear. They said get the car running better and the problem will probably work itself out, I don’t think it’s running bad but whatever.
So I’ve been just throwing tune up stuff at it, plugs, wires, cap & rotor. A new egr because it was frozen up. Changed filter in transmission.
