100 amp alternator

Replaced alternator Friday with a 100 amp one then was going for a drive when the ignition electrical shorted out causing a fire. My old alternator was an 80 amp one could the higher amp alternator caused my problem?

No. It was something else.

Did you replace it with a one-wire alternator? There are no factory 12SI alternators that are "100A", the largest was 94A.

No the alternator used the same plug as the 80 amp one. If it was faulty could it have caused the short that fried everything?

If it was faulty, yes, it could have.

Just the difference in nominal current output would not have caused it, though.
