69 Cutlass S, breaklight wont work, electrical problem

I recently got a 69 Cutlass S conv. and I checked the lights after people told me my passenger side tail breaklight would not work. I changed the bulb and checked for ground, no light. But the turn light will work.

Driver side tail light is good both the breaklight and the turnlight, but if I push the hazzard button both front turn lights work and none of the turn light in the rear.

I checked the break switchcable, seems to be okay, got power on the cable when I push the pedal. How to hunt the problem down. Break and turn modus use the same wire, so why would break contact not come?

Please help, thank you.

Brake light

Thanks for the reply. I did take down the steering wheel and I found a spring which came out of the socket. I put it back in and the lights work fine.

Once again,
Thank you.
