MSD 8529 modifications
I have modified my msd 8529 distributor to run external module(s) to achieve better serviceability and reliability. I just cut the two pickup coil wires and soldered a mopar style 2 pin pigtail to them. I also cut a small slot in the body to slide the wires in under the cap. I removed the coil retaining nut and bolts and taped the plate holes with a 10/32 tap. Now the pickup coil can be removed (and adjusted) from the top without removing and disassembling the distributor. The orange/black wire is + and violet/black is - polarity on the msd
pickup coil. I will run duel mopar modules hidden in the engine bay or fender. Now if one goes bad i can just switch the connector to the other spare, quick and easy. But HEI modules can be used also.... The Crane cams adjustable vacuum advance (99601-1) kit also fits this dist. The vacuum advance limiter plate with this kit can be used with a little grinding to limit the advance degrees. Maybe some of these mods and ideas will be helpful to others....

Update...
Im using a Rev-n-ator module that has an adjustable rev limiter also....Wow, it runs so good. Cranks normal . Direct manifold vacuum. 10* initial, 25* mechanical, 14* vacuum adv. with using the limiter plate, 6 turns out on the vacuum canister( midway adjustment). Runs ok on 93 pump gas, 455, iron C heads, true 10:1 compression. Loves a gal or 2 of 110 leaded race gas!
