Clutch Safety Switch wiring, '70 Cutlass

1970 Cutlass 4-speed - the safety switch is still installed on the pedal, however the two purple wires in the harness that this switch should be connected to have been removed from their double plug and taped together, bypassing the clutch switch. The jumper wires between the harness and the switch are missing, but easily replaced. I'd like to connect the purple wires correctly. Is there any way to tell which of these two wires goes to which pole on the switch itself? Or better yet, if I choose incorrectly, will I screw something up by wiring it wrong?

It doesn't matter. It just makes/breaks the connection.

Pull the clutch switch and test it with a test light or a meter.

Looks like the picture.

Thanks, My442 - I have continuity between the posts when the clutch pedal is pushed in fully. No reading when it is not.
