replacing turn signal collar on 72 cutlass

Hi everyone! My turn signal lever on my standard automatic trans column has always been very loose and sloppy and now that I have the column out of the car I can peek in with a flashlight and it appears that the plastic collar is cracked. I have another that came from a low mileage parts car. Can anyone point me to a thread that explains how to get the column apart and replace this collar and anything else I should replace along with it? Thanks!
Chris

Its pretty self explanatory once you get the steering wheel off.

There should be a parts breakdown in you manual. It should look similar to this.
