Tick tock tach wiring to repo unit | clarification needed

Does the tach wire itself ground to the bottom of the unit ? I have a repo tick tock tach and I bought the tach wire from inline tube. I know it goes to the negative side of the coil, but on the tach side...2 wires, 1 is brown and it self explanatory but the coax one...bottom of the unit for ground?

Thanks
Brian

Just screw the “braided” wire to the mounting “ear” that screws into the metal strap on the dash. Other end grounds to the coil mounting bracket.

^^^THIS. The overbraid is just a shield for radio noise suppression. The tach itself grounds through the housing to the ground straps behind the plastic dash. I've connected a bunch of tachs with unshielded wire, and with resistor plugs there wasn't any radio noise anyway.

Thanks gents ! - I'm also not running the OEM radio, doing an aftermarket Single DIN. I will connect the ground strap to one of the closest ground straps of the dash
