Still L.E.D. tail light researching!!!
I've searched all over the internet for L.E.D. tail light replacement kits for the 67 Cutlass, but so far have struck out. They make them for Ford, Chevy and truck classics and all the newer domestic and foreign cars. I'm looking to replace the whole tail light assembly, but may have to settle for a hard-wired brake/turn signal unit to mount inside the existing housings. Any updates on sources for such devices? Happy Motoring!!! jimjr

This was something I was interested in, and I talked to a guy at a swap meet who was a vendor for led tail lights, and although he didn,t have mine, he told me if I provided the housings, he could fabricate the led panel for me for a cost of approximately one hundred dollars for the pair.

Nobody makes them for an Olds because again, the demand is too low to support the business case. In any event, you can simply use the LED replacement bulbs for the 1157. I got a pair at Carlisle for $15.

I have one of those 1157 replacement units that I bought about 3 years ago for my motorcycle, and when I tried it out, it was MUCH less bright than the original bulb, so I never used it.
Are the ones you got at Carlisle brighter than or equal to stock bulbs, Joe? If so, maybe I'll take another chance with them.

My goal is to eliminate the lamp sockets and butt-splice the L.E.D. unit leads to the tail light wires. I don't trust the sockets. If I'm going to tear into such a project, I might as well go for the best solution, that being a hard-wired setup. I'll keep looking and let you all know what I find out. Happy Motoring!!! jimjr

Jim it's a 66.
I think it was the 68 Chevelle LEDs I used from that sight. There is a LED chart that lists dimensions.
I just looked and I didn't see the chart for the dimensions. I remember now he sent that too me in email so you'll need to contact him for it. You'll have to see what size will fit your housing.

Someone here or ROP did some for a 67 or 68. I think they used a kit for an early mustang and modified it. I can't find the link though.
I found it. It was Mingus but his is a 66

Hey TripDeuces- I rechecked your '66 pics. I saw that the car has one tail light per side. Did any Cutlass that year have the dual tail lights or did they change over to the four tail lights in '67? jimjr

i want to do this on my 67 ninety eight! glad to see i'm not the only one looking into this.. i want something like tripdueces set-up. i'll have to take some pictures tomorrow when the suns up but i can tell you now its a two bulb set up on either side, and i have NO idea how to remove the lenses. i really wish i could find another set of lenses but i know thats probably unlikely.. im interested in your opinions on how to hook em up, using thr stock sockets or hard wired, i have no idea how to do it, i really like how clean the back side of the socket looks on tripdueces lens.
