Best way to shorten wires...
Other than by cutting them . Since I am moving my alternator from the passenger side to the drivers side I will have over a foot of wires I will not need.
What is the best way to shorten them? In the case of the plug that goes in the alternator, can I reuse the plug. Meaning, cut the wires to length and insert the plug on the cut end. Or do I basically leave plug alone and cut out the slack and splice the wires together?
I don't own a soldering gun but I am assuming this is the best way to splice wires together?
Thanks for any input.

And yes, the convoluted tubing is the split, black stuff with the ridges. Big heat shrink tubing or that non-stick black tape wrap will work, too.
