'65 442 Tach Install!

'65 442 Tach Install!
Hey Guys,
I picked up an original console mount tach out of a '65 442! In excellent condition...I want to install it into my '65 Vista Cruiser....I am a bodyman, not an electrician!
Can this be done? If so, how? It has 2 wires coming out from the bottom, a gray one and a black one. Not sure if I need any kind of a sending unit or anything! How should and where should I run these wires to? Also, does this thing light up (how did you read them at night?), or was there a light that kind of pointed at it originally? Thanks for any help anyone can give me. I'm rushing to get this car road worthy so we can drive it 8 hrs to the Nats! By the way, 330-jetaway!
