1967 Delmont 88 production numbers
Greetings, all -
My husband and I recently acquired a 1967 Delmont 88 Holiday Coupe, 425 Super Rocket... We were wondering how many Delmonts were built in '67, but I'm not sure where to look (and my feeble attempts on Google were no good!) We flatter ourselves by saying we are 'car' people... My FIL even worked at the local GM plant! And I owned a '66 Dynamic and a '76 Delta in high school... But none of us had ever heard of a Delmont before! I assume they are rare, and perhaps not many were built? or not many survived?
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
All the best! Thanks for stopping by!
Sarah

The quick history: The Delmont 88 was the lower-end 88 model for 1967 and 1968. In addition, there was the Delta 88 and a slightly upscale version called the Delta 88 Custom. From 1969 forward until the end of Oldsmobile the only 88 was the Delta 88 (actually called simply "Eighty-Eight" from about 1988 until the end of production), and there were various flavors of it like Delta 88 Custom for a few more years after 1967 and Delta 88 Royale and Royale Brougham for many years.
The base engine in the '67 Delmont was the 330, with the 425 as an option, and I believe Delmonts with the 425 had a "425" badge on each front fender (although I'm not sure I see one in the photo of your car).
Production of the '67 Delmont 88 by body style and engine:
With the 330:
Town Sedan (4-door center post): 15,076
Holiday Coupe (2-door hardtop): 10,786
Holiday Sedan (4-door hardtop): 10,600
With the 425:
Town Sedan: 28,690
Holiday Coupe: 16,699
Holiday Sedan: 22980
Convertible: 3,525
With numbers like these, the '67 Delmont is not particularly rare today when compared to other full-size Oldsmobiles of the era. Because it was made for only two years, of course, the name "Delmont" doesn't appear on as many surviving Oldsmobiles as names like "Delta" or "Ninety-Eight" do, and that often explains why people who aren't close followers of the make have never heard of it.
The Delmont replaced the Jetstar/Dynamic 88, which were the lower (Jetstar) and middle (Dynamic) 88 models for 1966, with the Delta 88 at the top. Of course, in there for 1961 through 1966 was the Starfire, a sporty, full-size Olds, and, for two model years (1964 and 1965), the Jetstar I, a sort-of lower end version of the Starfire.
Going back further, the Super 88 was the top-line 88 from about the mid-50s to 1964, after which the model name disappeared. The Delta 88 name was introduced in 1965 as the new top-line 88 name.
I have a close cousin of your car, a '67 Delta 88 convertible, which is kind of why I've paid attention to this sort of info over the years. Your car is very nice.
Here's mine, in case you're interested (and even if you're not! ):

Here's a few pages out of the '67 Olds Full-Line brochure dealing with the Delmont 88.
Referred to here as a "brand new 88 series."
Yours is the top one on this page.
A page showing all of the full-size models in profile.

That is GREAT info! Thank you!
I will have to look for it, but someone on Youtube has the internal GM sales videos from 1967. I think they are for the whole fleet.
You probably already know, but the 67 Delmont 88 was used by the California Highway Patrol (they bought something like 1428 that year)... it was called the "Apprehender Highway Patrol B07" series. So cool.
Also, the 1967 Delmont 88 was the car infamously driven by Ted Kennedy in the 1969 Chappaquiddick Incident.
And more personal to me - we are from Kansas City, and our Delmont was built in Kansas City's Fairfax plant. (We have the original owner's manual and build sheets.) It turns out that my husband's grandfather and great-uncles worked in that plant at the time, so they could've built the car!

What always struck me is that Mr. Kennedy was driving a two-year-old car. I would have assumed that a Kennedy would always be driving the latest model.

Hello just to let you know you are not alone! I own a Delmont 88 4 door hardtop 425 Rocket. My Grandad bought it new in 67 and drove to Florida. It came back to me in 1992 after my Grandmother died. I love my 67 and it will be passed to my son. Always looking to get parts to have. If you have any leads share away

You might do better to start your own thread about your car. This thread has not been active in almost 3 years, and "Sarah," who started it, hasn't posted anywhere on the site since that time, so she seems to be gone.
Start your own thread and show us some photos of your car. As far as parts, you need to be more specific other than just saying "I need parts." What kind of parts? I have a '67 Delta 88, which is very similar to your car. I can get most mechanical and maintenance parts at the local auto parts store or online at places like rockauto.com. Body and trim parts are not reproduced and will have to come from junkyard cars.
There are people on this site with parts, and, in addition to an introductory thread in the Newbie forum, you should make a list of specifically what you need and post it in a new thread in the Parts Wanted forum.
