Seatbelts

If you want used ones post a parts wanted ad here. You can also monitor ebay but depending on which buckles you want they may be going for a pile of money. A buddy of mine bought new webbing material and had a new set stitched up for a reasonable price. If you have good hardware but rotten fabric that might be an alternative.

I believe you can get generic ones at your local auto parts store. You also might check out Kanter auto parts for generic seat belts.

Hi, I think this is my first post so I'll chime in for this one. I retrofitted shoulder belts in a car that only had lap belts. I was happy with the service and pricing. The site is www.andoverrestraints.com I also have 63 T-Bird that my wife refused to drive in without shoulder belts. I did some searching and found this company. I'm going to put rear seat belts in that car also. Good luck and hopefully they willhave what you need.

Car Craft did a story on a company to order replacement belts. Might want to check out their website.

Shoulder belts

I am looking at picking up a 68 convertible cutlass yet the wife wants to ensure that there are shoulder belts all around. Has anyone installed shoulder belts in the rear seats? I suppose I could go with harnesses all around so if anyone has gone in that direction, I would appreciate the info also.

I don't believe you could easily install 3 point harnesses into a car not designed for it. The problem would be that you don't know if the rear pillar is strong enough to serve as a mounting point for a safety harness. Also, if you used a 3 point harness with one belt and and two anchor points you would have trouble getting the pre-tensioner and locking function to work since they use gravity, mounting position, and centrifugal force to operate.
