Gear shift selector problem

I was fixing the blubs in the dash today and I dropped a blub on top of the gear slector. When I reached for it, I heard a pop, now the gear selector will not go back to park after putting the car in drive.

I see the cable but that's it. What did I break and how do I fix it?

I'm not sure in that model, but some have a small metal clip on the end of the cable that is slid onto the collar of the steering column, you should be able to drop the column down a little and reinstall the clip.

The clip on the column is in place. I just saw that for the first time today Is there something on the top of the PRNOD21 that I popped off? like a spring or something?

I pushed the needle over to the "P" and when I shifted in a gear, it would push the needle over to that gear, but when I put it back in "P" the needel stays put and I can move it freely.

Befroe anybody says it, the tranny is fine

Dug into the dash again, so I pulled out the PRNOD21 selector and the spring was just there. Put it back in place, put the selctor back and the cable on the collum and it's been working fine ever since.

Did this about a month ago
