Door jamb switches

Can anyone tell me what the extra door jamb switch is used for on a 1978 Delta 88? I know the single one used in the Cutlasses is for the dome light. This is my first non-Cutlass Oldsmobile that I've ever owned and I'm curious. I can't find any reference to it in the 1978 assembly manual. Any ideas?
Thanks

Does the car have an aftermarket alarm system?

That second switch is not an alarm system. I have two switches on my '78 Toronado. One is the dome lights, the other automatically releases the seat backs on two door models when the door opens so rear seat passengers can push the seat backs forward without having to move the little lever. Just a small extra convenience. I have two switches on both the driver and passenger side, and I imagine your Delta 88 does as well. Your car is also a 2-door, so it would benefit from this feature. It obviously wouldn't be found on 4-door cars. On my car, it's option AU5 "Power and Front Seat Back Lock Release," and the option included power door locks.

This system is well covered in sections 9 and 10 in the 1978 Fisher Body Manual.

Great. I couldn't figure out what that switch was used for and wasn't quite sure what I was looking for in the manual. My coupe does have the 2 switches on both sides. It also has the AU5 option.
Thanks.
