I just purchased a set of buckets from a 61 Starfire and the passenger seat is missing one bracket and the other is fixed, no adjustment. Not sure if this is right? And if 62 is adjustable will the brackets fit (if I can find any)?

I'm sorry, but I don't think that I can help you on this question. What I do remember of the 1962 bucket seats, the outboard seat track had a release **** that allowed you to move the seat forward and backward, and it wasn't connected to the inner seat track, like a bench seat. The inside track on the bucket seat, was more like an idler, and just moved when the other seat track was released and moved. Below is a picture from eBay showing the 1962 - 1964 GM bucket seat tracks (reproduction). This would make me be inclined to believing that the 1961 bucket seat was different in some way than the 1962-1964 bucket seat. You might consider going over to one of the other GM product lines forums, and asking there. You might get lucky, and find someone that has more information about the 1961 bucket seat.

Thanks Charlie, I looked a little harder and found that. What I don't see is any mention of additional floor bracing. I guess I'll have to wait till I pull out the old interior. At least it should be fairly simple to fab the passenger seat riser that is missing.

Power Passenger Seat
The original '61 Starfire passenger seat was not power, BUT, with our Buick Grand Nationals, which had the same issue, we were able to harvest the '80- '88 Cadillac Cimarron (remember that hot mess?) passenger seat and all trim, etc., which was power, and install it in our Buicks.
Today, I think, someone makes these parts for Buicks so searching yards for them is not going on much any more. Since Cadillacs typically had power everything in those days, it MIGHT be possible to scavenge one from a yard and install it in the '61 Starfire. I don't know for certain, but you could check it out. Oh, yeah, don't forget the HARNESS parts!!
Cheers,
Richard

Thanks Rich, I do have the seats I the car now and very pleased with the results. I did leave the passenger seat fixed as it would have been from the factory, I like the fact that it is different like that adds to the uniqueness of the car a little. Also, its in a good seating position and there is actually more room in the back seat than with the bench not to mention it is much easier to get back there. It is even comfortable to me and im 6'2" 250.
